New Delhi [India], Sep 24 (ANI): The Board of Cricket Control for India (BCCI) has condoled the death of former president of the governing body Biswanath Dutt who passed away on Monday following a prolonged illness.

Dutt, who was 93 years old, was elected as the president for a one-year term from 1988-89 to 1989-90.

An efficient administrator also served as the secretary and chief of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).

Before being appointed the BCCI president, Dutt served as the Board's vice-president from 1980-81 to 1987-88 (barring the 1981-82 season). He is also credited for Jagmohan Dalmiya's foray into cricket administration.

During his tenure as CAB secretary, Dutt appointed Dalmiya as treasurer of the association and it was there that his journey as one of the best administrators took shape. (ANI)
